Locating Wedding Venues Austin TX

By Rebecca Kelly

One of the most important aspects when planning a civil union, commitment ceremony or wedding is that of choosing a venue. Another factor that is important to most is that of cost. Unfortunately, while there are free and low cost options, the most popular are often more expensive when it comes to wedding venues Austin TX.

While not always the case, it is important to book a venue as early as possible in the planning process. Whether looking towards an outdoor wedding in Spring, or an indoor church wedding, most facilities require nine months to a year notice. As this is the case, it is often advised the couple research a number of venues upon announcing an engagement.

It is also important to consider other options when selecting a venue. Some of these include whether the site allows outside food and drink or provides a catering service. Others include alternative coverings or indoor locations in the case of inclement weather.

One of the most notable, and most expensive is that of the Driskill Hotel located at 6th and Brazos. As this is also the parking place for a number of horse and carriage operators in the city, it can also be a great place for the young couple to head off for a remarkable and memorable honeymoon.

Churches, synagogues and temples on the other hand have been known to offer free options for members. Although, most often the minister or rabbi in charge will request a meeting with the couple before providing services. Whether or not a space is free, it is always customary to provide a nominal donation for ministerial services following the ceremony.

When it comes to weddings in the park, these locations hold a lottery based on advance reservations. For Zilker park and the botanical gardens, couples must submit a lottery request nine months in advance of the date requested. Although, if no reservation has been made for a site within six months of the date, the site can often be booked with a deposit. Whereas, home churches or other locations may be more willing work with couples on a prepayment or payment plan basis.

Regardless of location, a deposit is most likely going to be required at the time of booking. Whether a bar, church, park, synagogue or temple, there are often a number of events which can have these spaces booked well in advance. In some cases, there are locations like bars and restaurants which might offer a small garden space along with other needs like catering or receptions.

Ultimately, when considering a venue, it is also important to consider cost, location, decor and weather. When planning an outdoor wedding, it is often good to also have an indoor option in case of inclement weather. Whereas, location can also be important, especially in the case of out-of-town guests.
