Some Useful Information About The Feast Of Trumpets

By Eric Wallace

As with all of the sacred nights on the Jewish calendar, this event marks a sacred time for people who practice this faith. When the feast of trumpets occurs, it means that a time of prayer and worship is about to occur. This period of time lasts for ten days in total, and it is a time for people to confess all of their sins to God and feel genuine remorse for them, as well as to proclaim their belief in God.

Every different type of festival or sacred meal in the Jewish religion's calendar represents a different thing that has to do with Jesus Christ and the way he ran his ministry. The particular one that we are talking about here is certainly no exception. When this event is held, one can expect ten days following which will be all about repenting your sins and proclaiming your faith.

The time that this sacred and holy event occurs usually around the months of September or October. It is often celebrated for two days, which is a good thing to know if you are not sure what to expect so that you are sure to pack enough clothes and necessities. The significance of it being held at this time has to do with the story of Adam and Eve and their subsequent fall from grace, and sees the new moon as a symbolic shadow.

This sacred event got this name because in the Bible, the Lord said that this time of year is a time for people to rest and think back on things from the past. These activities should also be accompanied by plentiful trumpet blasts, so its Biblical name is Yom Teruah. This is because the trumpet is a holy instrument and awakens the spirit like nothing else.

A common way that this widely celebrated event is referred to as is Rosh Hashanah. This translates to "Head of the Year" in the traditional language of Hebrew, which is the language that the ancient people of this faith spoke. The reason why this is a common thing to call this celebration is because it starts off the Jewish civil calendar.

In this fast paced culture and age that we live in, sometimes the hardest thing to do can be to just unplug and turn away from the mountain of work that's always piling up. During Rosh Hashanah, one of the important things to do is to not do any work at all. Instead, you spend your time thinking over your sins and connecting with God.

Rosh Hashanah could be likened to the concept of a harvest party because that is part of what it is celebrating. This special date signifies the time that the agricultural year is finally over. That means that people who have been working hard and sweating out in the fields can finally put up their hat and boots and have a rest.

A trumpet blasting can mean many things depending on the context, but as a Biblical reference, it means the coming of the Day of Judgement that we have all heard so much about. All of the seven festivals that the Lord has us carry has its own special significance. Judgement day is what this one signifies.
