Why Do We Have An Apologetics Ministry

By Ann Sanders

Repentance is the science and art of Christian faith. It can also be defined as the defense of Christian faith in relation to the church that you attend. 1 Peter 3:15 is the most quoted verse when it comes to repentance. The verse urges Christian to lead a life of love and peace. To be able to answer a question about their hope and faith with humility. Below are some of the reasons why apologetics ministry is important.

Acts 17 encourages us to persuade people to believe and join in the Christian faith the same way Saint Paul did. The chapter gives an encounter of how Paul would visit synagogues and stay for up to 3 days. In this time, he would try to listen to the people and reason with them. He also showed them from scripture that Christ had to suffer and die for our sins.

Unlike other religions, Christians are not very knowledgeable about their religion. This is why they easily fall into sin or are easily challenged by non-Christians. The apologetics explain the Christian faith so that Christians can be able to understand and defend their religion. Without them, the defensive methods would change drastically into unpleasant ones.

It is the desire of every Christian to one day go to heaven. It can also be the duty of every Christian to make sure that a lot of people get to go too. Christians are supposed to make people know that God hates sin and people should always avoid it and repent if they indulge in it. People should be aware that the punishment for sin is hell, which is very real.

Christians believe that they are forgiven of their sins as long as they accept Jesus as their personal savior. They also believe that they have a chance of having eternal peace in the safety of heaven. The apologetics are supposed to help us steer non-Christians in the right direction. Otherwise, they will suffer punishment for not believing.

They come in handy when trying to rectify the image that has been put up by the media among other people. Some people turn churches into businesses and also engage in shameful acts. The media tends to focus on the wrong side of things thus bringing such things into the limelight. As Christians, we are supposed to work towards correcting the perception that has been put out there.

They enable us to deal with the constant threat of apostasy. The bible clearly states that same-gender relationships are abominable and unacceptable to the Christian faith. Some churches have gone ahead and accepted these relationships which send the wrong message to the non-believers. Having repentance allow us to know how to handle such situations.

False teachings are a part of the weeds that are killing the Christian faith. Other religions like Islam do not acknowledge Jesus and see him as another one of the prophets. Atheists do not believe in God at all and openly condemn Christianity. Such has caused people to lose faith.
