What To Consider When Planning Bay Area LGBTQ Weddings

By Scott Hamilton

If you are living in the Bay area and you want to get married you have many amazing options to choose from. Bay area LGBTQ weddings can be meaningful and romantic. Part of what makes them so stunning is the beautiful surroundings that can be easy to find in this part of the country. Whether you want to marry your partner in a laid back, relaxed setting or you want a more formal event, here are some things to think about when you are planning your wedding.

Budgets are very important when planning a large event like a wedding. Not only is it important to know how much you want to spend overall, it is also important to decide which areas you want to spend more of your money on. There are certain elements that will often cost more such as the budget for your reception. If, however, you want to make sure that you have the ceremony and reception of your dreams you may need to make sure you allocate your money to cover those increased expenses.

While many people love the idea of a formal celebration, you shouldn't be stressed out if you would rather plan a more casual ceremony. Only you know which options will best reflect you and your partner as a couple. Once you have an idea about the kind of celebration you want you can then start looking at venues that support your vision.

Once you have a few ideas about your celebration you can set your date. Waiting until you know where you want to marry before setting your date may seem odd but if you love the idea of being outdoors or if you want to use a seasonal location you may have specific times of the year that would be a better choice. Some venues also change their pricing based on the time of year which can affect your budget.

One recent trend that a lot of couples are embracing is to plan more than just a wedding and reception. If you are someone who has friends and family who live out of town you may want to think of ways to extend your celebration and show off the best aspects of the Bay area. Planning day trips to favorite locations or other activities can be a lot of fun.

While some people love the idea of a huge celebration, your wedding ceremony and reception don't have to be if that isn't what you want. An increasing number of couples are making the choice to only have a few people present to witness their vows. Some will choose to have a larger number people at their reception or have a separate party afterwards to celebrate their union.

While you may be tempted to do the planning yourself, this may not be the best route, especially if you are not from the Bay area. A planner who has worked with LGBTQ couples may be able to help you find unique sites for your ceremony or reception. They may also be able to put you in touch with service providers who are happy to work with LGBTQ couples.

Of course, if you don't give yourself enough time to plan, it will definitely feel more stressful. If you give yourself more time to plan things and are organized you can space out your tasks and this will make the planning process much more relaxed and laid back.
