Speculations About A Muslim Antichrist

By Essie Osborn

The end times predicted in the book of Revelation have always caused much speculation. It speaks about an evil man who will rise to a position of control over the whole world. The Bible does not state who this man is or where he comes from and this is why so many theories abound. Some feel that there will be a Muslim antichrist and others think that he will be a Jew. The Bible simply says that we will know him because he will proclaim that he is God.

Many Bible scholars today speculate that he will come from a confederacy of ten nations and they regard this as the European union. Some say that he has to be a Jew in order to claim to be the Messiah. During the 1940s many believed that Adolph Hitler embodied the beast. A large number of traditional Biblical interpreters believed that Islam was the antichrist and currently this view is being embraced once more.

Modern biblical interpreters tend to have discarded the theories of many past interpreters who firmly believed in an Islamic antichrist. Some say that this is a mistake and that they are looking at things from a Western point of view. This is allowing them to miss the many literal references to the destruction of Islamic nations on the return of the Messiah.

One of the arguments used to support an Islamic system as the beast is their denial of the Trinity. They do not regard Jesus as the son of God. Another argument is that they have a form of submission to God but they are not really submitting to Him and they will be destroyed on His return. Interestingly enough, the Muslims also say that there is to be a battle and the Israelites will be defeated.

The Koran talks about the beast of the earth and that all Muslims will be marked on the forehead. In Revelation it says that no-one will be able to buy or sell unless they wear the mark of the beast. Some people take this literally and think that people will have some sort of physical mark or a computer chip. Others take this in an allegorical sense as referring to a declaration of faith.

The name antichrist is not used in the Bible when it comes to end time prophecies. Many other titles are used for this individual. However, there is no confusion about what he does. He fights against all who stand against him and exalts himself. His complete control brings peace of a kind. However, this peace ends when God brings about the destruction of his rule.

There are those who feel that Islam may appear to be a peaceful religion but this is merely a cloak. In the light of recent world events, many Muslims in fact do not want to be classified together with the fundamentalists who kill innocent people in the name of Allah. Others speculate that a European antichrist will be able to take over as the one who is protecting the world against Islam.

World events can be used to support a variety of different views and individuals seem to passionately support their theories. However, they are just theories as we do not know the truth. The speculation is likely to gather steam as significant events continue to unfold.
