The Importance Of Christian Prophetic Guidance

By Harriet Porter

Many times Christians do not know what to do in their walk of faith with God. For this reason they have to seek Christian prophetic guidance. A believer does not have to own the prophecy gift to talk to the Creator. He or she also does not have to be supernatural, just human who walks in upright ways.

Some believers get prophecies as it is the plan of God for the purpose of their lives. Prophetic guidance is to help believers be able to see the intent and purpose for their lives from God. When the prophecy has been revealed, they can walk in accordance to it in order to fulfill the purpose of God. This strengthens their faith.

All believers and followers of Christ have the ability to hear from God. This ability is made possible when there is a strong relationship between you and the Creator through active powerful prayers. When this has been achieved, you can receive prophetic guidance. To receive prophecies one must have a good relationship with God with a special connection.

Many people think that prophecy is predicting the future and its events. This is however not true as it is the revelation of the heart and love of God upon his people. It also seeks to remind people of His will for their lives. Prophets are not meant to serve individuals, they serve the church. The Holy Spirit speaks first and then a prophecy confirms the message.

When prophecy is revealed it is not alone, its preceded by the same message from the Helper. The Helper is the Holy Spirit and the gift from Christ he had promised on his day of ascension to Heaven. The helper helps Christians walk upright in God. This is in the scriptures that people who walk with the Spirit are never confused about what to do as He guides them through anointing to tell right from wrong.

Christ and the apostles warned Christians about false prophets during the last days. To be able to discern whether the prophet is true or false we must have the Holy Spirit in us. When you hear a prophetic message from the prophet that you have not yet heard from the Spirit you need to be very cautious about it. This is because the prophets only confirm what the Spirit is saying and not create their own message.

It is unbiblical to turn to prophets for answers. This is because everyone who knows Christ and follows his word has the Holy Spirit who guides them in hearing the word of God Himself. There is no individual in the pastoral world that is meant to replace the work of the Holy Spirit in the life of a Christian. Besides, the word of God is perfect and complete and Christians can rely on it for guidance. This does not mean God cannot use someone else to speak to you.

When under the prophetic guidance be keen of your actions. Let the blessing you have be reflected in all your actions and let them be used to preach the Gospel. Remember to be as holy as Christ and let the gifts he gives you help you to teach others about Him. When in doubt, pray in faith and read the bible to know what God wants you to do.
