Celibacy is becoming one of the hot topics in Catholic circles. Recently a group of Catholic faithful broke away from the original Church and formed a reformed Catholic church that does not observe celibacy as part of their doctrine. Some argue that celibacy is encouraging the errant behavior of some priests because they have physical contact with women within their residences. The irony is that if a priest does not marry then how they can arbitrate the everyday marriage matters that affect the flock.
If a criminal action would be taken against clergy who involve in unlawful, indecent acts such as having sexual relations with children, then it will set an example to others planning to commit such vices within the establishments of the church.
