By Catherine Olson

There are a range of areas to meditate upon based on your circumstance in life. For Christian biblical meditation to be effective, your technique must be poised to deliver these results.

Meditate on a singular theme. The truth is that the bible cannot be exhausted. The message it carries is intense and deep that one session is not enough to exhaust it. You will get strength to move on in your spiritual, work, family and social life, among other facets. The book is intense on the majesty and splendor of God. You need to focus on a single element in order to have an intense session.

Seek guidance from a spiritual leader. As a layman or even as clergy, your understanding of the bible is not as deep as one would desire. Even for the leaders, you might miss a few elements that would unlock your understanding of God. Guidance from your spiritual mentor or someone who has studied theology at length will usher you into a new world that unlocks your understanding of God.

Use music in your meditations. While gospel music has mutated over the years, these still remains faithful tunes that will enhance your ability to reflect on bible based issues. Choose music that is relevant to the subject you wish to reflect on. You also have the option of melodies that calm the spirit and give you a chance to reflect. Ensure that the melodies can last through the reflection session to avoid disruption.

A pilgrimage will enhance your reflection. Pilgrimages are journeys of faith to a site that is relevant to your faith. Holy cities and sites of spiritual significance form the perfect destinations for pilgrimages. This will bring your understanding of the bible to life and enable you to understand different issues are discussed in the bible.

A retreat is an effective way to enhance your spiritual life. Retreat centers enable you to be in seclusion in order to have greater focus on a specific message that you will be reflecting upon. The mind is also calm and in a better position to reflect on the message of the scripture. Inform your family, friends and acquaintances about your journey to ensure that they do not disrupt.

Be prepared in your heart, body and mind to receive the message that comes from your reflections. This is God who will be passing a message that is supposed to transform your life. Your entire being must be ready for this transformation. If you have any doubts, deal with them before they affect your reflections.

The bible is clear and emphatic about meditation and its place before and during prayer. Whenever you meditate upon the Word, you must be ready for the transformation that comes with it. You need the right environment and state of mind to reap the benefits that come with the exercise.
