Guidelines For Selecting A Pentecostal Assembly

By Deborah Roberts

The Pentecostal Christian denomination is composed of a lot of churches. Therefore, it is not hard to find a church which matches with your expectations. However, there are a few basic aspects that you should consider to ensure that the place you want to join is suitable enough. Below are factors to consider when selecting Pentecostal assembly.

Consider their use of the bible. The bible is the core reference material in the place of worship. Therefore, your ideal worship sanctuary should consider it in their preaching. Therefore, you should determine whether they consider it as the final authority in matters regarding their daily activities. Moreover, they should handle classes which tend to expand on it to their members.

Beware of its doctrine and ordinances. You expect the church which you narrow down on to have a sound Pentecostal doctrine. The Pentecostal doctrine stresses on the divine intervention of the Holy Spirit and God. This rules out rituals and thinking as part of the intervention of the Holy Spirit. Besides that, they believe in the holy trinity as three manifestations of God. Ordinances that should be practiced in this churches are baptism by immersion and observing the Lord Supper.

Check whether they put emphasis on discipleship. The capacity of a Christian to live just like Christ is considered as discipleship. This aspect should be emphasized through teaching from the church and other consideration. Therefore, inquire if your target church has classes which teach on discipleship. Groups formed to emphasize on this should be well managed to achieve the intended results.

Choose a place which encourages on evangelism. Every house of worship has an obligation to evangelize to non-Christians. This means that they should spread the gospel as instructed by the bible. This cannot be achieved if members are not acquainted with relevant methods to evangelize and given enough resources as well. Mobilization should be done to ensure that members volunteer for this activity.

Take note of their programs and services. A reliable church is supposed to hold different programs which help in the growth of their members. Some programs that they should have include charities, corporate prayers, fellowship and others programs. Moreover, they should schedule their services during periods which members are satisfied with. Also, they should run for a reasonable duration.

Confirm whether the building has a suitable structure. The comfort of a church member is based on the structure of the church building. This means that it should have enough space which can accommodate every person within it. Adding on that, it should have a reliable ventilation system, enough security measures and have handicap access features as well.

Select a place which is close to your residence. A close place of worship eliminates the possibility of getting late due to various factors. The most common one is traffic jams which are common with churches which are located in big cities. You can easily attend the services and attend to other responsibilities after it is over. You should be careful with the place you select to ensure that it meets every qualification that is stated above.
