The teachings recorded in the Bible said that there would be famine in many places before He comes again. Therefore when famine covers most parts of the world, those who witness should know that the end is not far away.
At the same time, there are prophecies that, before Christ returns on earth some of things that people will witness include among other earthquakes and also other natural catastrophes. That is to say that some things that are being witnesses and thought to go away may not just stop as yet.

The Messiah will not return in secret but will make known the plan to return before the great trumpets to announce the arrival.

Also, there is the promise that Christ will not come before everyone in the world hears the word of God. That means everyone who will be living at the time of coming back of Christ will have listened to the words of Messiah written in the holy book.
