Secrets In Cleaning Glass Pipes

By Dawn Williams

Glass pipes can be very dirty especially if it has been used for a long time and have not been regularly cleaned. Doing the cleaning is actually simple. Learn how to do it through these basic ways.

Any excess substances should be removed by holding the thing upside down and gently tapping it so that any particles would be taken away. Then have the interior part be flushed with running water to get rid of dirt which have not stubbornly attached. Be extra careful in holding it because it would be slippery and you might drop it.

Alcohol is the usual substance use in cleaning this type of thing and the most tested one is just the common rubbing alcohol. Prepare a plastic bag or even the sandwich bag which can be resealed and let it be filled with alcohol which is just enough for the bottom part. Ascertain that the amount is capable in submersing the entire object when it is already placed inside.

Place the bag and the thing in the microwave but be sure that is properly covered with the solution and then set the timer to ten seconds. Wait until the alcohol will boil and be cautious because this would happen so rapidly. Avoid heating it for a very long time to prevent melting of the plastic and breaking of the glass.

Take the bag out of the microwave and shaking of the entire thing will allow the alcohol to go inside the tubing and this will result to the taking of the debris away. The thing itself will remain in the plastic because it should still be soaked overnight so that the hardened dirt will be loosened. Seal it properly and keep it there for about eight to ten hours.

After soaking, the thing can be taken out and rinse it well with cold water which is preferably running. Sometimes there will still be additional deposits which have not yet loosened especially if it has not been cleaned for a long time. Get a pipe cleaner or even a simple cotton swab can do the work in taking off the remaining stubborn dirt and rinse with water.

Have the object be thoroughly dried before it can be used and this is the final part of the process. If the use of alcohol is not preferred, another option that can be possible is by using boiling water. Fill a small pot with water that is enough to submerge the object and then boil it on a gas or electric stove.

When the water is already boiling, reduce the flame to allow the it to just simmer and the you can safely place the object while making sure that it is fully covered. But be sure that there were no excess particles inside the tube. Allow the it to simmer for about twenty to thirty minutes and then rinse and have it dried.

Avoid putting the glass pipes in boiling water when those things are still cold because it will only result to their shattering but warm them instead with your hands. The boiling method if used will also result to the spreading of a strong odor to your entire home. Washing the object before using is very important.
