When I was preparing for the birth of my daughter, I had a long list of things I wanted to do, such as getting the nursery ready and making some things for the layette, but buying a christening dress was something that I simply overlooked. It's not that the christening was not important to me, I just had so many other things on my mind that this one thing slipped through the cracks, but when my mother-in-law started grilling me about it I figured I should make some arrangements.
Since I hadn't given any thought to the christening dress, I didn't know where to look, so I thought maybe I ought to hop on the computer and do an Internet search so that I could find a nice dress and get back to all of the other things I was trying to get ready for the baby. It turns out that it was a wise move, because after just a few minutes of searching, I found a website that sold all kinds of religious special occasion clothing.
I was so amazed with all of the beautiful dresses they had to offer, that it took me quite a while to look through all of them and make up my mind between several of the dresses that I just loved. The dresses were just so darling that I could easily imagine holding my new daughter while she wore such a dress and it really made me feel closer to her.
I placed the order and told my mother-in-law that the dress was on its way, which did not do much to satisfy her, but there was nothing more I could do at that point. As soon as the package arrived, I took the dress over to show it to my mother-in-law, and was pleased to see that she loved the dress and I was feeling much more confident about the preparations for the christening, until my mother-in-law wanted to know what venue we had booked.
We finally got everything all set, and the baby came right on time and we were able to enjoy several days of peace and quiet with our new baby, before we were thrown back in to the battle of the christening, when my mother-in-law had many more complaints about my planning or lack thereof. Finally, the big day came and went, and my daughter looked amazing in her new dress and everyone was so impressed, that people began asking me where I had gotten such a lovely little thing, and I was perfectly happy to tell them!
