My daughter had been looking forward to getting baptized for a long time, and for her, it seemed as if her eighth birthday would never come soon enough, and for my part, I wanted to make the day special, so I decided to help her find the perfect baptism dress. Most of my friends just had some skilled family member make an ornate, gorgeous baptism dress, but unfortunately, no one in my family knew how to sew, so I knew it would be up to me to shop around to try to find the perfect dress.
Rather than just drive around, hoping to stumble across a store that sold white dresses for eight year old girls, I decided to look online first in order to see what was available in terms of stores where she could try on dresses before we made a purchase. It turned out that that this was a very wise move, and in no time at all, I found the website for a great local store that had some beautiful white dresses at great prices!
I told my daughter about this store and she could barely wait to get in the car and drive down there to look at the dresses, which we did, and the whole way over, she happily chatted about her upcoming baptism, which brought tears to my eyes. When we got to the store I had to take a moment to dry my eyes, but my daughter was oblivious and ran ahead of me into the store.
I followed her in, and we started browsing through the racks, which took quite a while since they had a great selection, and after my daughter tried several of the dresses on, we both fell in love with one particular dress. We purchased the dress, and drove home, and the smile on her face was something that I will hold in my memories always.
When the great day of the baptism finally arrived, we all had a phenomenal experience, with a lot of extended family that came from out of town for the occasion, and we all had a great time celebrating this important day together. When the big day was over and all the dust had settled, I felt a little bit sad that everything was behind us now, but I soon remembered that my next daughter would be turning eight before long, and we would have another big day to look forward to, and this time I would know just where to go to find the most beautiful baptism dress!
